Latino Institute (LI) was formed in 2001 by the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department. The program now resides under the Phoenix Hispanic Network.
The mission of LI is to enhance the quality of life for all communities through a collective effort that recognizes the richness of Latino culture, its contributions to society, and its challenges for the future.
LI has served over 500,000 residents within the last 18 years. Past awards include City of Phoenix Excellence Award, Arizona Parks and Recreation Association/Community Programming Award, Maricopa County/Community Advocate Ward, New Times Best of Phoenix/Best Latino Outreach Program, Raul Castro Institute - Arizona Trailblazer Award, and Arizona Hispanic School Administrators Association - Outstanding Community Representative Award.
